Commonly asked questions by IT departments

Can I keep my current POS

keyboard_arrow_down

In most cases, yes. We constantly develop our integrations and add additional POS systems to our portfolio. If we don't integrate with your current POS provider, we do that in preparation to your rollout. The integration is simple and can go both ways. Either we integrate to the POS or the POS provider uses our well-documented API to integrate with us. To see what POS integrations we are already providing today, check out this site.

What payment service provider are you using for pin transactions?

keyboard_arrow_down

Firstly, we don't have to integrate with a payment service provider and don't have to handle pin transactions if you simply keep your existing POS. However, if you want to use VisioLab as a standalone POS with our TSE, you can pick one from the providers that we already integrated. If we don't have them in our integration portfolio yet, you can simply request us to integrate your provider of choice. Check out this site to see all the payment service providers we have already implemented.

What do you need the ERP for?

keyboard_arrow_down

To streamline the user experience, we use your ERP or menu planning system to pull the menu for the given day automatically and prepare our system for your staff to start the training process. While with many other solutions, you have to manually type in the menu of the day into the self-checkout and have a long and peculiar training process, we simply pull the data into the system and enable the user to train it. This way, your daily onboarding of a menu takes less than 5 minutes on average.

How does the integration with our POS provider work?

On a technical level, we leverage the existing APIs, act like an advanced scanner and send all the information about what's on the tray to the POS. We give the option to select a payment method and simply trigger the payment. This way, your integration efforts as well as the impact on security and privacy is as low as possible.

Is your solution secure?

keyboard_arrow_down

Contrary to many other providers that are using Linux as their operating system, we are using iPads and therefore iPad OS. While some people believe that iPadOS may be less secure than Linux, we have a contrary opinion on this topic.

While other operating systems such as Linux give a lot more options to customize the security settings, it also requires the company to have all the expertise in place to constantly develop and monitor the security of their Linux version on their devices.
So, while Linux can hypothetically be more secure than iPadOS, the reality is that it's less likely to be more secure when it comes from a self-checkout provider that builds their hardware themselves and also have a need to implement top notch security.

In terms of security, we rely on one of the biggest tech companies in the world and trust their capability to keep iPadOS secure. This way, we believe that we provide a much more secure system than all other competitors in the market and can solely focus our development efforts on building the best self-checkout experience in the market.
