Is the Self-Checkout compliant with data protection regulations?

Yes, our self-checkout system complies with the requirements of the GDPR. During the checkout process, the system processes image data to recognize food items. It is not designed to capture or store personal data. To ensure this, we implement various technical and organizational measures, including a blurring function that automatically obscures any unintentionally captured personal data.
VisioLab offers you a data processing agreement (DPA), ensuring that you, as the controller, remain legally responsible for data protection. As a data processor, VisioLab processes data solely based on your instructions and provides technical safeguards.

How do I train the AI?

To train the AI, an image of each product is taken once. You have the option of mapping a variance within the product category with several images. (For example, pasta can be trained and offered with and without rocket). Our user interface is very simple and intuitive and guides you through the entire process.

How long does it take to train the AI?

The duration of the training run depends on the number of products being offered. The average training time is about 4 minutes for an inventory of about 150 articles. Some customers achieve training times of 2 minutes.

How long does the installation take on site?

The installation takes less than one hour. We offer various digital and analog training and further education opportunities for your employees. If you wish to be accompanied on the first day, that is also possible. Please contact us.

How many products can be recognized simultaneously?

There is no quantitative limit. The AI recognises all products that are placed in the camera's field of vision. Up to 10 products can be placed comfortably, but when it comes to drinks, for example, significantly more products can be placed.

Does the camera record customers and employees?

No. The camera is pointed downwards at the checkout counter. No faces are recorded.
